listening to or performing music, go see Dr. Julie. She is the best in the business. I have never met another audiologist with this depth of expertise with hearing and music. If you need hearing aids or currently wear hearing aids that aren't working for you, go see Dr. Julie ASAP. Living with hearing loss can be hard, but with the right hearing aids, you CAN access a fuller range of hearing. Long version: I was born with mild hearing loss, diagnosed at age 10, and have worn hearing aids all my life (I now have moderate loss). Although I loved singing and music, by age 14 I came to the conclusion that music could never be a part of my life. I struggled to hear notes accurately, was deeply embarrassed by my difficulties, and felt powerless to change my circumstances. Hearing aids were notorious for distorting music as well. At the time, every audiologist was like, "Sorry, that's just how it is." So I gave up music. Well, life without music is depressing. Over 20 years later, my interest in music never went away. About a year ago, I decided to pursue vocal lessons and music for fun and found a very supportive vocal coach. I made positive progress, but it was slow and challenging. A year into the lessons, I was ready to upgrade my hearing aids. I'd heard from other musicians with hearing loss that the most important thing to look for in a hearing aid brand is the audiologist. Your hearing aids are only as good as your audiologist, I learned. So I researched the best audiologist I could find in LA - and found Dr. Julie. I was excited that this was an audiologist who specializes in musicians. From the start, Dr. Julie has been very responsive and it's easy to schedule appointments. She takes her time with you and you feel cared for as a person, which not every doctor/audiologist does. Finally, she provides an extra level of care that is missing from many audiologists: things like being able to demo/test potential hearing aids, additional hearing tests beyond the standard "hit-the-buzzer", creative options for ear molds, expertise in how to program hearing aids for music, and a hearing test with your hearing aids to measure how you hear now. After getting my case history and running a few hearing tests, Dr. Julie was confident I could get hearing aids I loved. And, she was emphatic that my hearing should never limit me from music. About a week or so later, I returned for the fitting. My life has changed completely from that day forward. There are SO MANY things I can hear now that I couldn't before: I can hear someone speak to me from behind me and from over 10 feet away. I no longer have to face the person I'm speaking with to hear them. My speech clarity capacity went from like 50-60% to 80-100%. I can hear birds sing, rain drops fall, and even a baby crying (and the baby's kid brother shouting along) from the apartment building across from me. I can hear in work meetings and participate in group lunches. At bars, I can now hold a conversation and even overhear other people's conversations. I can order coffee without struggling to hear. Even more incredibly, I CAN HEAR MUSIC ACCURATELY! I'm hearing music with depth, richness, and dimension for the first time. In about 3-4 vocal lessons, my coach seemed very heartened and shared that I’ve improved a lot. I have hope that I may actually be able to progress in music - something I had never dreamed I would ever be able to do. It’s like I am a new human being. Being fit properly with excellent hearing aids with today's technology truly can unlock and give back your life. Dr. Julie is a phenomenal audiologist and resource, for music people, audiophiles, and anyone with hearing loss. I only wish I had found her sooner!!!! THANK YOU, DR. JULIE!

Broadway shows in NYC, and all of my colleagues recommended her. Unfortunately, I had missed her in NYC before she moved west. I was in LA for a friend's wedding and I knew that I had to look up Musicians Hearing Solutions and schedule an appointment with Dr. Julie. The consultation was absolutely invaluable. I had my hearing tested, including to frequencies above the usual testing that audiologists check, but that musicians use all the time. Being able to "taste test" all of the major brands of in ears, within my desired budget, was incredibly eye opening. She took the time needed to get my molds exactly right, and the resulting fit was perfect. I am very happy with my 64 Audio in ears. I will absolutely go back to Dr. Glick for an upgrade when the time comes. If you are a musician, and can find your way to LA, you absolutely must get on Dr. Julie's calendar–she's the best!

Solutions came highly recommended to me by a Grammy nominated artist I regularly perform with (who also has benefited from seeing Julie). Julie made me feel instantly comfortable. We started off with a hearing test, after which she gave me a full explanation of my results. I felt like I got a great educational on both my hearing and sound in general. She then gave me an in-ear monitor consultation which included being able to listen to and compare the top in-ear monitor brands and models. Being able to have a side-by-side comparison was invaluable, especially because this was my first time purchasing in-ear monitors. Julie is extremely knowledgeable & experienced. Both qualities are so vital because I was fairly inexperienced with in-ear monitors before our initial meeting. Thankfully, she was very patient with me (I am very particular) as I carefully sampled and went back & forth between at least 6 different in-ear options. Julie listened carefully to my own set of needs (for instance… being a bass player, hearing good low end is obviously very important to me) and guided me to the perfect monitors for me. Although I never felt pressured or pushed in any direction. This was the first time I had molds made of my ears, and Julie nailed it. Again, her years of experience proving invaluable. When my custom in-ear monitors were completed, Julie gave me a thorough “walk through” and I felt as confident & educated as one could be without yet having used them under real circumstances. But I felt ready. Leaving Julie’s office, I felt heard, thoroughly educated, and confident in the investment I made. Thanks to Julie and Musicians Hearing Solutions, I am hearing music in a whole new way. It has been very exciting how this has changed my stage experience for the better which, in turn, has already positively impacted my stage sound and, as a result, has noticeably benefitted my fellow bandmates. Throughout the entire process, and through to the present, Julie has always responded promptly and thoroughly to all of my questions. I felt like her pricing was very reasonable. Overall, I give Julie and Musicians Hearing Solutions an A+. I will certainly be returning for any and all future hearing needs.
