Ian Kuhn, VP Artist Relations

It was in the late 1980s that Ian Kuhn was invited by a friend to help record a show for a relatively unknown band named Smashing Pumpkins. While attending Columbia College in Chicago, Ian would travel with the band to its weekend shows throughout the region, attending to their technical and sound needs. Around the same time, he began his residency as monitor engineer at the popular Chicago venue named Metro, cutting his teeth mixing hundreds of bands including Nirvana and Prince. Within a few years, the Pumpkins had shaken their obscurity and were touring the world with Ian at the monitor desk. This was the start of a touring career, which included a stint with Beastie Boys before being hired as monitor engineer by Dave Matthews Band in 1995, where he has been ever since.

Ian has played an integral role in the audio industry as an early adopter of digital sound consoles and in-ear monitoring. He has also acted as a consultant to the major equipment manufacturers during the development of their products.   Ian’s expansive touring experience has led him to develop methods of lessening the aggravations that some musicians find with in-ear monitoring from the sense of isolation to methods for better “feeling” the monitor mix. Ian is also an expert in wireless technologies and RF coordination and holds the highest class of amateur radio license available.

Due to his expertise in the industry and reputation among peers, it was only natural for Ian to become a part of the team at Sound Engineering Consultants.

Ian’s outstanding work in monitor engineering has been recognized by receipt of the following awards and nominations:

Recipient, Center Stage Award 2002 and 2003, Dave Matthews Band

Nominee, TEC Award 2002, 2006, 2009, 2012 2015, 2016, Dave Matthews Band

Kevin Glendinning, VP Artist Relations

Kevin Glendinning got his start in the music industry as a drummer and entrepreneur of his own sound company in Chicago in the early 1990’s. His enthusiasm and passion for music and sound led him to work as a staff monitor engineer and road technician at dB Sound in Chicago where he was able to broaden his experience by being exposed to major event productions both in music and the corporate stage. This experience led him to further pursue his passion in sound and studies at Columbia College in Chicago where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sound Reinforcement in 2001.

Kevin’s talent and advanced education landed him a full time monitor engineering position with dB Sound where his first gigs had him touring the globe with AC/DC, Metallica and Rolling Stones.  With a myriad of touring experience under his belt Kevin decided to take a leap of faith and began his career as an independent sound engineer at the same time that In-Ear Monitors were first being introduced and used in live performances.  Kevin was an early adopter to this technology, which has since taken over live performances, and led him to be the go-to sound engineer in the decades to follow for world renowned bands and artists such as Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5 and many more.

These days, when not enjoying time at home away from truck docks and tour buses, Kevin spends his time consulting with companies, bands and engineers in the live audio and contracting industries. His clients range from the smallest bar bands to those filling the world's biggest stadiums.  He is excited to be a part of our team and to share his invaluable professional experience to help you achieve your performance goals.

Kevin is honored to have received the following accolades by his peers and colleagues for his outstanding work in sound engineering:

Recipient, Center Stage Award 2007 Justin Timberlake Future/SexLove Tour

Recipient, The Parnelli Award 2012 Maroon 5's V Tour
